UFN 15 Preview On Wednesday Night, the UFC comes to Omaha, Nebraska for Ultimate Fight Night 15 Live on SpikeTV. Once again the free card offers fans some very competitive match ups including Nate Diaz versus Josh Neer, Clay Guida versus Mac Danzig and six more bouts. Ready To Contend Part I Nate Diaz (9-2) vs. Josh Neer (24-6-1)
The winner of the ‘Dentist’ Neer and Diaz will be put into the mix of lightweight title contenders and will most likely face the winner of Guida versus Danzig. Two years ago Nate’s older brother Nick defeated Josh with a Kimura in the third round and Nate will try to follow in his older brother’s footsteps. That task will not come easily though as Neer brings a well rounded background into this fight with 10 wins by TKO and 10 wins by submission so far in his career. The Ultimate Fighter 5 winner Nate Diaz holds victories over such notable opponents as Kurt Pelligrino and Manny Gamburyan. Neer has 20 more fights under his belt but his last victory over a top opponent came over 2 years ago with a unanimous decision over Joe Stevenson.
Diego Sanchez – “I see Nate Diaz win streak coming to a end by vicious KO. That is if Neer has done his homework and stays out of that dangerous triangle of Diaz that's his bread and butter. I think josh will fight smart and win."
Ready To Contend Part II Clay Guida (23-9) vs. Mac Danzig (18-4-1)
See above what is at stake in this match up. Two experienced fighters face off with the ‘Carpenter’ Guida bringing his reckless, fan thrilling, balls to the wall approach to fighting against the Ultimate Fighter 6 winner Danzig who has since dropped to lightweight and looks to continue his submission based career with a third straight victory in the UFC. Guida holds key victories over Marcus Aurelio and current Strikeforce LW Champion Josh Thomson. Danzig brings 18 career victories to the cage with him and 10 of those by submission. Elvis Sinosic – “I think that Clay Guida will be a great test for Mac Danzig to see if he’s ready for the big guys. Clay will pressure Mac from the start til the end and it will be a great test for him.”
Last Man Standing Houston Alexander (8-3) vs. Eric Schafer (9-3-2)
Welcome home Houston! Both fighters come into this bout with 2 fight losing streaks in the UFC, although Schafer has won 2 fights since his last appearance in the UFC. The ‘Assassin’ needs a win in this fight to keep his job with the UFC following 2 first round KO losses after Alexander burst onto the scene with 2 TKO victories of his own against Keith Jardine and Alessio Sakara. Schafer makes his return to the UFC after almost a one year hiatus when he was knocked out by Stephan Bonner at UFC 77. One of these fighters UFC careers will continue after this fight and the other will be looking for a job with someone else. Elvis Sinosic – “Houston Alexander is coming up against another grappler. The question is will Houston send Eric into orbit or will Eric hand Houston another submission loss.”
Other Bouts: Ed Herman (14-6) vs. Alan Belcher (12-5) Joe Lauzon (16-4) vs. Kyle Bradley (13-5) Alessio Sakara (12-7) vs. Joe Vedepo (7-1) Ryan Jensen (13-4) vs. Wilson Gouveia (10-5) Brad Morris (9-3) vs. Jason Brilz (15-1-1) Elvis Sinosic – “I will say my buddy Brad Morris is fighting on the undercard (and fingers crossed that the match gets shown). He’s trained hard for this fight, but the UFC has given him another tough unknown fighter who is a potential rising star. I think this time Brad will rise to the occasion!” Drew McFedries (7-3) vs. Mike Massenzio (10-2) Rob Kimmons (21-3) vs. Dan Miller (8-1) ![]()
